Officer Frank Stevens sustained a broken shoulder when he was dragged by a car while he was directing traffic. His condition during his recovery caused him to fall and die from his injuries.
Officer Stevens sustained a broken shoulder when his glove caught on a door handle while he was directing traffic at 12th and Main Streets on New Years Eve December 31, 1935. On January 4, 1936, Officer Stevens was recovering from his injuriy and became dizzy and fell down some stairs in a store at 909 Main Street rupturing his spleen. He was taken to Menorah Hospital where he died from the combination of his injuries and resultant pneumonia on January 9, 1936.
Officer Stevens, 48, was with the Kansas City Police Department for twelve years and was assigned to the Traffic Unit in 1931. He was survived by his wife, Susie. Interment: Mt. Washington Cemetery.
