Officer William Wood was struck and killed by a passing car while handling a call.
At around midnight on August 29, 1934, Officer Wood was on foot handling a call at a residence at 6011 East 15th Street. Officer Wood was struck by a car when he stepped into the street from between two cars and sustained severe head and back injuries and a broken pelvis. He was taken to the Menorah Medical Center, where he died on August 30, 1934.
Officer Wood, 62, was survived by his wife, Maud, and a child. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery.
