Officer Gerald Fackert was fatally injured when his police motorcycle collided with a truck.
Officer Fackert and another mortorcycle officer, Russell Fisk, were seriously injured when their motorcycle collided with bakery truck at Robert Gilham Road and Troost Avenue (now Brush Creek & Troost Ave). Officer Fackert was driving at the time of the accident and Officer Fisk was riding in the sidecar. Officer Fackert was in shock, had sustained a crushed right leg and later died at General Hospital.
Officer Fackert joined the department August 5, 1919 and previously sustained serious injuries in a motorcycle accident after serving for three months. He was survived by his father, Oscar, and mother, Elizabeth.
