Officer Wilcox was fatally injured when his motorcycle struck a truck

An Arctic Ice Cream Company Truck traveling slowly southbound on Troost turned left onto 51st Street. Officer Wilcox was traveling northbound on Troost at speed when he struck the truck. Officer Wilcox was taken to General Hospital and later to St Lukes Hospital for treatment of a skull fracture and a broken left leg. His condition improved for some time but he died on May 3, 1924 at St Lukes Hospital from his injuries.

Officer Wilcox served on the department for one year. He had served in the US Army 35th Division in France during WW I . He was a Freemason and was survived by his mother, Alberta, and his sister, Mina. Interred: Mount Washington Cemetery.
